Maisha Magic Plus is set to ignite screens with its latest thrill-seeking drama series, Mkasi, premiering on October 24, 2024. Promising to be a captivating addition to the network’s lineup, Mkasi will dive deep into a family drama filled with power struggles, secrets, and betrayal, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.
The series revolves around the Kombe family, whose seemingly perfect lives spiral into chaos following the mysterious death of their patriarch. As the family grapples with loss, hidden agendas begin to surface, exposing a web of deception, ambition, and greed. Each episode promises intense drama, as the Kombe family members navigate their fractured relationships while vying for control of the family legacy.
Leading the stellar cast is Mombasa-based filmmaker Stephanie Maseki (Michael) as Damaris Kombe, the heartbroken widow of the late patriarch. She is joined by George Kituto (Zuena) as Patrick Kombe, the eldest son, and Anita Wawuda (Jiji) as Karen Kombe, the youngest daughter. The ensemble also features renowned media personality Eddy Kimani (Sanura, Country Queens), Juma Shibe (Mvera), Zahara Mohammed (Pete), Sophie Rueben (Pete), Ivy Wanjiku (Sanura), Hillary Namanje (Mvera, Pete), and Angie Magio (Selina), adding further depth and talent to the series.
The creative genius behind Mkasi is none other than Daudi Anguka of AR Films, a Mombasa-based filmmaker known for his critically acclaimed works, including Kenya's 2023 Oscar submission Mvera. Anguka, who also produced Pete and Sanura, brings his signature storytelling style to Mkasi, promising a tale rich in tension and emotion.
Commenting on the upcoming series, Anguka said, “Mkasi delves into the complexities of power dynamics within families and how secrets and betrayal can erode even the strongest bonds. Set against the stunning backdrop of Mombasa, the series offers a visual and emotional richness that I believe will resonate deeply with viewers.”
Margaret Mathore, Head of Channels at M-Net East Africa, added, “Mkasi is a compelling and relatable Kenyan story that reflects the realities of life, family, and the pursuit of power. We are thrilled to bring a top-tier Kenyan cast and an authentic narrative to our audience, showcasing the beauty and complexity of African storytelling.”
